Unconscious Bias discussion session
Engage recently participated in an event organized by the ITER Women and Allies Group focused on unconscious bias. Stereotypes affect our everyday lives and decision-making, therefore it’s important to reflect on what our own biases may be, and what we could do to overcome them. Although the group focused on unconscious bias with regard to gender, the discussion also covered other topics such as nationality and age. An interactive quiz, riddle and a video interview with an expert on the topic deepened our awareness of how unconscious bias can impact our work and daily lives. As reports tell us, diversity leads to greater innovation and economic prosperity we can all benefit from overcoming bias’ that are limiting. Let us carry the lessons learned from this event, striving to be more aware of our biases and committed to creating a fairer and more inclusive world for all.
